Neumann-Goretti has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the La Salle College Explorers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neumann-Goretti has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Neumann-Goretti scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 92-83 win over Devon Prep. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Neumann-Goretti's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Stephon Ashley led the charge by scoring 23 points along with two steals. Ashley continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Larenzo Jerkins, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, La Salle College beat West Catholic 60-50 on Monday.
Neumann-Goretti's win bumped their record up to 18-2. As for La Salle College, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Neumann-Goretti against La Salle College when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 64-33 victory. With Neumann-Goretti ahead 46-15 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
