Basketball Recap: Wyandotte Piles Up the Points Against Washington

Wyandotte had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They breezed past the Washington Wildcats to the tune of 64-25. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 29 points or more this season.

Wyandotte's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaida Johnson led the charge by going 5-for-9 to rack up 14 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Johnson a new career-high. Promise Burton was another key player, going 6-for-9 on her way to 15 points and six steals.

Wyandotte smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Wyandotte's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points over those games. As for Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wyandotte will head out to take on Sumner Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Washington, they will head out on the road to square off against Atchison on Tuesday.
