Basketball Recap: Cambridge Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Elisabeth Kubik and Mallory Springer

Cambridge lost against Cozad back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cambridge Trojans fell to the Cozad Haymakers 40-34.

Mallory Springer and Elisabeth Kubik certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Springer posted seven points in addition to 13 boards and seven assists, while Kubik dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Springer is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Cambridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Cambridge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Cozad, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-5.

Cambridge will venture away from home to take on Pleasanton at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th. As for Cozad, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 45-36 victory against Ainsworth on the 21st.
