The Althoff Catholic Crusaders and the Camp Point Central Panthers squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Althoff Catholic Crusaders had to settle for second. Althoff Catholic's tough 42-22 loss to Camp Point Central might stick with them for a while. Althoff Catholic's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Althoff Catholic still got an impressive performance from Dierre Hill jr, who rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Hill jr is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played.
Leading Camp Point Central to victory were Elijah Genenbacher and Drew Paben. Genenbacher rushed for 97 yards and three touchdowns, while Paben gained 152 total yards and two touchdowns. Paben was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 63 yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Camp Point Central's defense and their five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kadin Niekamp and Conner Griffin who racked up four sacks between them.
Althoff Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Camp Point Central, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0.
Althoff Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Camp Point Central will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Greenfield/Northwestern at 2:00 p.m. Greenfield/Northwestern is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
