Softball Recap: Union Pines Snags Tenth Victory in Last 13 Games

Union Pines got themselves on the board against Midlakes on Monday, but Midlakes never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Screaming Eagles with a sharp 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kaitlyn Blue tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Madison Stein was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Caidence Crabtree, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Union Pines has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Midlakes, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Union Pines will challenge Silver Creek/Forestville Central at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Midlakes, they will face off against Crest at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Screaming Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
