Jonnie Adame was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brason Brock, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Marcos Flynn was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ira). Everything went their way against Colorado on Thursday as they made off with a 22-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won four games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Like Eldorado, Ira also got a great game from a two-way player: Noah Preston. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Preston was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Hudson Luft and Brandt Cox did most of the damage at the plate: Luft went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, six RBI, and four runs, while Cox got on base in all six of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. With that strong performance, Luft is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Jerich Olvera, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Ira always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .540. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Eldorado's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Ira, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eldorado has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. However, it's not like Ira struggles in that department as they've averaged .502. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
