Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Myers Park's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Myers Park had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Mooresville Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 11 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Henry Bauer, who gave up just a hit to keep Mooresville off the board. Bauer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Myers Park let Jaxon West and Sam Bundon run wild. West went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one run, while Bundon went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those two doubles gave West a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Jokinen, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Myers Park is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mooresville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-8.

Coming up, Myers Park will square off against Cuthbertson on Tuesday. The Cavaliers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Mooresville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
