There's no place like home for Westview, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 67-56 victory over Pius X on Saturday. The victory was just what Westview needed coming off of a 75-49 loss in their prior contest.
Leading Westview to victory were John Sims and Tayvin Murphy. Sims scored 20 points, while Murphy scored 17 points along with five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Murphy has scored at least 25% of Westview's points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Wilborn, who scored seven points.
Despite the loss, Pius X still got an impressive performance from Treyson Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. The game was Anderson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellan Humm, who scored 14 points.
Even though they lost, Pius X were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Westview's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Pius X, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westview will face off against Papillion-LaVista South at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Papillion-LaVista South's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Pius X, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln Southwest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lincoln Southwest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
