The Parkersburg Catholic Crusaders put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 49-39 win over Charleston Catholic. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Parkersburg Catholic has scored all year.
Despite the defeat, Charleston Catholic saw an underclassman step up: Mary Rushworth scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Rushworth scored a full 46.2% of Charleston Catholic's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Telina Williams, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Parkersburg Catholic pushed their record up to 6-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Charleston Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Parkersburg Catholic has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome St. Marys at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Charleston Catholic will be staying on the road on January 5, 2024 to face off against Clay County at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
