Basketball Recap: LBJ Austin Drops Season-High Score on Northeast Early College

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask LBJ Austin). They claimed a resounding 96-33 win over the Northeast Early College Raiders. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 584th, while the Raiders are ranked 1394th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead LBJ Austin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tre Riley, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 17 points in addition to six boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ali Scott, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 20 points and seven boards.

LBJ Austin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

LBJ Austin's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-13. As for Northeast Early College, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-14.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Eastside Early College the next time they take the court. LBJ Austin will host Eastside Early College at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while Northeast Early College will host them at 8:00 p.m. on January 14th.
