Basketball Recap: Aurora Extends Winning Streak to Three

Aurora had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 60-44 victory over the Crete Cardinals. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 51-42 two weeks ago.

Aurora got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Staehr out in front who shot 50% from the field to rack up 16 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Canon Allen, who posted 11 points and five boards.

When it comes to explaining why Crete lost, don't look at Carter Rezny. Despite the final result, he put up 17 points. Carter Benes also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Aurora's victory bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Crete, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.

Coming up, Aurora is taking a road trip to take on Skutt Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Huskies will need to watch out since the SkyHawks have now posted at least 55 points in their last six games. As for Crete, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-44 win against Lincoln Northwest on the 13th.
