Hartford's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Homestead with a sharp 10-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Orioles in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now won five in a row.
The result came thanks to Ayden Grulke's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joe Landgraf, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brandon Radermacher, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Hartford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Port Washington and West Bend West, and Port Washington kept the tradition alive. The Pirates came out on top in a nail-biter against the Spartans on Monday, sneaking past 4-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Pirates as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Sam Hoeft made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, O'Neal Wright was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Kyle Uselding was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Hartford's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Port Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.
