Basketball Recap: Greenville Drops Season-High Score on Humphreys County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenville). They were the clear victor by an 81-60 margin over the Humphreys County Cowboys on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Hornets have posted against the Cowboys since November 30, 2019.

Greenville found their leader in freshman Kolbie Williams, who went 7 for 12from beyond the arc on his way to 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. De'Marion Gibson was another key player, going 8 for 19 on his way to 16 points in addition to six assists and five steals.

Despite the loss, Humphreys County still got an impressive performance from Dexter Williams, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Dakis Foster, who put up 11 points.

Greenville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Humphreys County, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

Greenville will take on Greenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Greenwood will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Greenville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Humphreys County, they will challenge South Delta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
