Big VIII recap September 24, 2013
Santiago took down Santa Fe 56-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Blake Barnett threw for 131 yards and ran for 242 yards in the win.
The Sharks made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 262 from 446. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 56-7 victory over the Chiefs last week.
Greyson Bankhead was the best wideout in Big VIII this week as Centennial lost to Alemany. Bankhead racked up 6 receptions for 95 yards. Barry Ware helped Centennial's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 97 yards.
Barnett was the best running back in the league this week. Teammate Joey Camarillo added to the ground attack by rushing for 52 yards.
Joseph Muriel threw for 194 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 14-30 with 2 interceptions.
Muriel put up the best numbers in passing as Roosevelt defeated Etiwanda. Muriel's favorite target this week was Marcus Williams, who caught 2 passes for 59 yards.
Barnett provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Santiago beat Santa Fe. Barnett's favorite target this week was Nick Pineda, who caught 3 passes for 40 yards.
Barnett was a force in the backfield as Jeff Steinberg's team bested Dave Pierson's team.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Bankhead. The Centennial star has 28 catches for 326 yards.
Tre Watson of the the Huskies is only 4 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 116 carries Watson has put up 996 yards this year.
The Sharks led the league in scoring this week by notching 56 points on the Chiefs. Barnett during the win.
