The East Mecklenburg Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Butler Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
East Mecklenburg has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 20 points or more this season. They blew past Garinger 89-50 at home. East Mecklenburg's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
East Mecklenburg's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryson Heath, who scored 23 points along with six steals. The game was Heath's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ahmari Hicks, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 1 assists.
Meanwhile, Butler didn't have too much trouble with Providence on the road on Tuesday as they won 64-46. The win made it back-to-back wins for Butler.
The win (which was East Mecklenburg's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Butler, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
East Mecklenburg didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Butler in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 62-57 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Butler's Zion McDuffie, who scored 35 points along with seven rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for East Mecklenburg to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
