Baseball Recap: Buckingham Gets the Win

With a playoff win on the line, Buckingham rose to the challenge on Monday. They never let the Luray Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Ty Wilkerson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Walter, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Buckingham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Buckingham's victory bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Luray, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

Coming up, Buckingham will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverheads at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gladiators' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Luray does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
