Middle Creek extended the longest winning streak in 4A Conference 13 this week by beating Fuquay-Varina, 28-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
The Jaguars' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. John Politis threw for 199 and 1 touchdown and Jamie Barnes had 84 yards receiving. On the ground Dominique Lynch contributed 187 yards. Mark Stallings helped Athens Drive's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 57 yards.
Athens Drive's dynamic duo of Politis and Barnes proved tough for the Imps to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Stallings helped Athens Drive's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 57 yards.
Lynch provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Chris Martin's team fell to Cary. Lynch's key target this week was Barnes, who caught 9 passes for 84 yards.
Green Hope's Luke Massei and Elijah Murrane have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Massei has thrown for 2,450 yards this season, while Murrane has 76 catches for 935 yards. The Jaguars' Lynch leads the league in rushing yards with 1,370.
The Falcons' Murrane is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 65 receiving yards against Wakefield to hit that benchmark. He has recorded 76 catches for 935 yards this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Middle Creek takes on the Bengals. Mike Castellano's team is in second place, while Fuquay-Varina is in fourth place.
