Stoneham made easy work of Melrose on Friday and carried off a 40-14 win. For Stoneham, this is just revenge for the 38-44 loss they suffered against Melrose the last time they faced one another.
Stoneham's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 22 points in the first half. Meanwhile, Melrose couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 22-0 heading into the break. The Stoneham defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 7 and all but finishing the contest. Stoneham added further sheen to their flawless record, now 5-0. The defeat dropped Melrose's record to 3-2.
Next week Stoneham take on Watertown at Victory Field at 7:00 PM. As for Melrose, they will face off against Winchester. Both of those teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
