Baseball Recap: Connally Comes Up Short

Connally extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They lost 11-2 to the Live Oak Classical Falcons. On the bright side, the two- run effort marked the Cadets' highest-scoring contest to date.

As for Live Oak Classical, they pushed their record up to 6-4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Live Oak Classical's part, McClain Maupin and Lincoln Ryan did most of the damage at the plate: Maupin went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base, while Ryan went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Maupin is becoming a predictor of the Falcons' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4-1 when he doesn't).

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Connally will take on Liberal Arts & Science Academy - Austin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Live Oak Classical, they will face off against Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Falcons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
