2A-2 Region III District 9 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Waskom moved up to 400 from 704 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-2 Region III District 9. A 41-20 win over Queen City helped the Wildcats improve their standing.
Waskom led the league in scoring this week after putting up 41 points on the Bulldogs.
Elysian Fields' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Yellowjackets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Trevor Spear has thrown for 212 yards this season, while Christian Smith has five catches for 104 yards. Spear also leads the league in rushing with 228 yards.
A big matchup in 2A-2 Region III District 9 this week will be when New Diana takes on Whitney Keeling's team. At the moment, the Eagles are in fifth, while the Wildcats are in first.
Waskom made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,805 from 7,351. The improvement was the result of 41-20 victory over Queen City last week.
