The Winnfield Tigers will take on the Bunkie Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Winnfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Winnfield is returning to their home field after beating Lakeside on theirs, despite the fact Lakeside has dominated at home this season. The Tigers walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Warriors on Tuesday. Winnfield's win was all the more impressive since the Warriors were averaging only 3.16 runs allowed on the season.

Winnfield saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Vercher, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Vercher a new career-high. Anna Claire Bartlett was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Winnfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeside only managed nine.
Meanwhile, Bunkie fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Jena on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Giants by a score of 3-2. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.
Aubree Ducote spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Andi Bettevy made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Bunkie now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Winnfield, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.
Everything went Winnfield's way against Bunkie when the teams last played back in March of 2017, as Winnfield made off with a 12-0 win. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
