Bunnell hasn't had much luck against Brookfield recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bobcats at 4:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Thursday, Bunnell needed a bit of extra time to put away Pomperaug. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 11-10.
The team relied heavily on Kira Bryant, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Sedlock, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bunnell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Brookfield entered their tilt with Stratford on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Red Devils a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Bobcats have won five games by more than 11 runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Samantha Aurrichio was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Emma Ferguson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Bunnell is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Brookfield, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Both Bunnell and Brookfield just can't seem to miss. The Bulldogs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Brookfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bunnell suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Brookfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
