After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grandview, Vista PEAK Prep was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 48-21 victory over the Denver East Angels. The Bison not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 12, 2024 (when they won 49-0).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vista PEAK Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Canaan Barthlow, who threw for 254 yards and four TDs while completing 81.2% of his passes. What's more, Barthlow racked up 135.4 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Derion Breaux helped Barthlow out on the ground, rushing for 98 yards and a pair of scores.
Several Angels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Declan Macdonald, who threw for 199 yards on 20 of 39 attempts, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. A healthy portion of Macdonald's aerial production (110 yards to be exact) went to James Pillivant.
The win got Vista PEAK Prep back to even at 1-1. As for Denver East, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Vista PEAK Prep has already played their next game, a 69-14 victory against Overland on the 4th. As for Denver East, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on the 12th.
