Baseball Recap: Founders Classical Academy Wins Going Away Against IDEA Judson College Prep

Founders Classical Academy lost to IDEA Judson College Prep back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Hoplites put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 18-1 victory. The Hoplites might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Luke McCaw made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Loyless, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was John Spalding, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Founders Classical Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Founders Classical Academy and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Looking ahead, Founders Classical Academy will challenge IDEA Monterrey Park College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. IDEA Judson College Prep will be paying especially close attention to the Hoplites' matchup: after the Hoplites faces off against Somerset Academy Collegiate, they'll take on IDEA Judson College Prep again at 5:00 p.m. on May 1.
