The Southeastern Panthers will challenge the Wellston Golden Rockets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Southeastern comes in on three and Wellston on five.
Southeastern proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Fairfield 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since March 24th.
Kylie Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Jade Turner was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Wellston got themselves on the board against Fairland on Tuesday, but Fairland never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 11-0 win. The Golden Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Hannah Potts made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lyla Pittenger, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karly Rinehart, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Wellston's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Southeastern, their record now sits at 12-15.
