Baker has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Lone Pine Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Baker didn't have too much trouble with Big Pine at home as they won 54-38. Baker pushed the score to 46-24 by the end of the third, a deficit Big Pine cut but never quite recovered from.
Meanwhile, Lone Pine had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.4 points), and they went ahead and made it 15 on Tuesday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 64-15 victory over Owens Valley. Lone Pine has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 21 points or more this season.
Lone Pine can attribute much of their success to Alfonso Castro, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, and Cristian Duran, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Duran pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Rodriguez, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
The victory got Baker back to even at 8-8. As for Lone Pine, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Baker suffered a grim 55-30 defeat to Lone Pine in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Baker avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
