Basketball Recap: Enloe Takes a Loss

Enloe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Broughton Capitals. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Capitals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Enloe had strong showings from Gui Wilkins, who posted 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and John Brown, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Daylen Chamblee, who earned six points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Enloe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Broughton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sam Freeman led the charge by going 5 of 12 en route to 13 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Freeman a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Fitzgerald, who scored eight points.

Enloe's record is now 2-13. As for Broughton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Enloe didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-44 loss against Leesville Road on the 28th. As for Broughton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-36 defeat against Cardinal Gibbons on the 27th.
