The Bowman Academy Eagles pushed their score all the way to 64 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lafayette Jefferson. While losing is never fun, Bowman Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Lafayette Jefferson is ranked 58th).
Despite the loss, Bowman Academy still got an impressive performance from Jamarie Pollard , who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 3 assists. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. Emmanuel Foley was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists and three steals.
Bowman Academy bumped their record down to 5-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 4.67 points. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Bowman Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Francis de Sales at 2:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Lafayette Jefferson will finish 2023 at home by hosting Andrean at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
