The Williams Vikings will be taking part in a tournament against the San Tan Charter Roadrunners at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Williams sitting on five straight victories and San Tan Charter on seven.
On Tuesday, Williams made easy work of Red Rock and carried off a 15-1 win. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.
Tytus Hollenbeck made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Hollenbeck was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Williams let Aiden Uebel and Mario Pedraza run wild. Uebel scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2, while Pedraza scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Pedraza has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Rigo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Williams always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Red Rock only posted an OBP of .391.
Meanwhile, San Tan Charter got the win against North Valley Christian Academy on Tuesday by a conclusive 18-6. Considering the Roadrunners have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Braden Peasel made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Bairyk Schulte was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Dillon Wildrick was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
Williams pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for San Tan Charter, their record is now 12-1.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Williams has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .507. However, it's not like San Tan Charter struggles in that department as they've averaged .526. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
