Volleyball Recap: Bishop Moore Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Bishop Moore, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Spruce Creek Hawks on Wednesday. For the Hornets, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Bishop Moore had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-12.

Gracynn DeLoach paced Bishop Moore's offense, picking up 11 kills. DeLoach got some help from Annika Jurgensen and her 22 assists. Finally, Maria Fernanda Jardim kept Bishop Moore's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

When it comes to explaining why Spruce Creek lost, don't look at Logan Milan. Despite the final result, she had 26 digs and three aces. Milan is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season. Bella Johnson was another key player, getting 19 digs and two aces.

Bishop Moore's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Spruce Creek, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-5.

Coming up, Bishop Moore will be playing in front of their home fans against George Jenkins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Spruce Creek, they will venture away from home to take on DeLand at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The match will give the Hawks their first taste of in-conference action this season.
