The Brighton Bengals fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Highland Rams on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 55-45 to the Rams. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Brighton has scored all season.
Several Bengals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaxon Soto, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Nash Matheson, who scored nine points along with five assists.
Highland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from George Mcconkie, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 18 rebounds. Mcconkie set a new season high mark in blocks with seven. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Anderton, who scored 16 points.
Brighton's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Highland, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
Brighton will be playing in front of their home fans against West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Highland, they will head out on the road to face off against Alta at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alta knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 games -- so hopefully Highland likes a good challenge.
