Laurel never let their opponents score on Friday. They claimed a resounding 43-0 victory over the Riverside Panthers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Spartans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Panthers are ranked 424th).
Laurel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luca Santini led the charge by throwing for 106 yards and a pair of touchdowns. What's more, Santini posted two passing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Kolton Carlson also helped out with an impressive 86 receiving yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Laurel's defense and their four sacks. In that department, Alex Medved was the leader with two.
The win (which was Laurel's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 40.7 points this season. As for Riverside, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Looking ahead, Laurel will face off against Bishop Canevin at 7:00 p.m. on the 13th. As for Riverside, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on New Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
