Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers

The Roosevelt Rough Riders will challenge the Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Roosevelt has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 175 points over their last three matches.

Roosevelt took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Ravenna 60-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Rough Riders have posted since December 5, 2023.

Roosevelt's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jaden Dennison, who went 7 of 12 en route to 23 points, and Gavin Peeps, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. With that strong performance, Dennison is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Slocum, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Cuyahoga Falls lost a heartbreaker to Wadsworth when they met back in February of 2020, and they left with a heavy heart again on Saturday. Cuyahoga Falls fell 59-50 to Wadsworth. The Black Tigers haven't had much luck with the Grizzlies recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Roosevelt's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Cuyahoga Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Roosevelt came up short against Cuyahoga Falls in their previous meeting back in February, falling 54-42. Can Roosevelt avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
