The Clovis Christian Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Amherst 30-26. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Clovis Christian came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 122nd in New Mexico, while Amherst is ranked 1474th in Texas).
Despite the loss, Clovis Christian saw an underclassman step up: Hannah McKay scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Clovis Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Amherst, their win bumped their record up to 3-16.
Clovis Christian will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Non Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. Amherst will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Morton at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th.
