Ixayana Vera made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.
In other batting news, Irvington got a massive performance out of Diya Vacin, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-4. Vacin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last six games she's played. Maya Briones was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Irvington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as American only posted an OBP of .292.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Kennedy and Washington, and Kennedy kept the tradition alive. Kennedy walked away with a 7-3 victory over Washington on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won three in a row.
Marilyn Rivas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.
At the plate, Hannah Cornell was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Nataile Servanda also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Irvington's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Kennedy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
