The Regis Groff Fusion's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 62-50 to Denver West. While losing is never fun, Regis Groff can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Denver West is ranked 110th).
Several Fusion players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Darius Owens, who scored 16 points. Davonte Robinson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
It was another big night for Jeremiah Parker, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds for Denver West. Parker is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Dallas, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 22 rebounds.
Regis Groff's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Denver West, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.
Regis Groff will head out on the road to challenge DSST: College View at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. DSST: College View has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Denver West, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Vista PEAK Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Vista PEAK Prep is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 72.4 points per game.
