Capistrano Valley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Culver City Centaurs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Capistrano Valley had no problem doing just that on Friday. They had just enough and edged Downey out 37-34. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Capistrano Valley's six-point performance the match before.
Tommy Acosta got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Culver City earned a 38-28 victory over Ayala on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Culver City.
Culver City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Myles Singleton led the charge by picking up 145 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in a rushing score. Sammy Silvia also helped out by tossing the rock for 302 yards.
Capistrano Valley's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Culver City, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
