The Hardaway Hawks were the 53-47 winner over the Bainbridge Bearcats when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Hardaway fell 59-52 to Bainbridge on Saturday.
When it comes to explaining why Hardaway lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mekhi Benton. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaire Hodge, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Bainbridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aj Grant out in front who scored 16 points. Grant hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Tyrese ?Ty? Jones, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Hardaway's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Bainbridge, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-9.
Hardaway will face off against Shaw at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Shaw has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 361 points over their last six matches. As for Bainbridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Early County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Early County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Bainbridge likes a good challenge.
