Cupertino has gone a perfect 3-0 against Prospect recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Pioneers will challenge the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Cupertino sitting on four straight wins and Prospect on five.
Last Friday, Cupertino got the win against Santa Clara by a conclusive 14-6. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Maddison See was excellent, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lilly Roman, who went 3-for-5 with two runs.
Cupertino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Prospect challenged Lincoln on Friday. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Lions 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since April 30, 2024.
Kendall Tabora was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Slezak, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
Prospect's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. As for Cupertino, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cupertino hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Prospect struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cupertino took their victory against Prospect in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1 score. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
