It was a good run, but the Rowe Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 45-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vela. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rowe in their matchups with Vela: they've now lost nine in a row.
Janai Coleman was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 24 rebounds for Vela. Coleman hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Tovar, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Rowe's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-10. As for Vela, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 21 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rowe will take on Sharyland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sharyland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. As for Vela, they will head out on the road to take on Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 770th, while Vela is ranked 300th).
