Powell has gone 9-1 against Clinton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Panthers will welcome the Dragons at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Powell 3.4, Clinton 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Monday, Powell came up short against Gibbs and fell 10-5. The Panthers have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Powell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Crawley, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Clinton made sure to put some runs up on the board against Knoxville Catholic on Saturday. The Dragons blew past the Fighting Irish 10-1. Considering the Dragons have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Mandy Chambers made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryana Holt, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last eight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddisyn Reynolds, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Clinton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Knoxville Catholic only posted a batting average of .176.
Clinton's win bumped their record up to 19-9-1. As for Powell, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-8.
Powell got the 'W' when the teams last played on Wednesday against Clinton by a conclusive 12-1 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
