You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the North Point Eagles' strategy against the McDonough Rams this past Friday. North Point steamrolled past McDonough 67-11 at home. That 56-point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles on the season.
North Point found their leader in underclassman sophomore Natalie Johnson, who posted a double-double on 26 points and 15 boards along with five steals. This makes it six games in a row in which Johnson has had at least three steals. Senior Davia Jenifer was another key contributor, picking up eight points and seven assists in addition to seven steals.
The victory was the ninth in a row for North Point and raised their record to 13-7. McDonough's overall record fell to 5-14.
North Point will take on La Plata on Wednesday. North Point won't have the home-court advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings. As for the Rams, they will go up against Stone on Wednesday. McDonough is the slight favorite, but fans of both teams should be in for an exciting game likely to go down to the wire.
