After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sinton, the Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 45-35 victory over Banquete. Given Skidmore-Tynan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 596th, while Banquete is ranked 1682nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cole Rivers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Alexander Gonzalez, who scored nine points.
Skidmore-Tynan's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Banquete, they bumped their record down to 1-14 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Skidmore-Tynan will be home for the holidays to greet Refugio at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Banquete will be home for the holidays to greet Goliad at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
