If the Washington School for the Deaf Terriers were feeling good off their 70-27 takedown of the Three Rivers Christian Eagles on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Washington School for the Deaf fell just short of Willapa Valley by a score of 47-44. Washington School for the Deaf has struggled against Willapa Valley recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Washington School for the Deaf lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kwabena White-Star, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. White-Star has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Robinson, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Willapa Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nathan Fluke, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Brody Ritzman was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 13 rebounds and four steals.
Washington School for the Deaf has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Willapa Valley, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington School for the Deaf will stay at home for another game and welcome Pe Ell at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. Willapa Valley will take on Naselle at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.
