The South Broward Bulldogs entered their tilt with the Hollywood Hills Spartans with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. South Broward simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Hollywood Hills 61-31 on the road. Given South Broward's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Hollywood Hills is ranked 386th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Broward's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Wheatley-humphrey, who rushed for 263 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.2 yards per carry. Wheatley-humphrey hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Randy Phillips, who threw for 515 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
Another reason for the win was South Broward's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Richardson Toussaint and Charles Ross who racked up five sacks between them.
South Broward's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points per game. As for Hollywood Hills, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Broward will take on Miramar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Miramar is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Hollywood Hills, they will be playing at home against Northeast at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Northeast has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 30.
