The Mitchell Christian Golden Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Colman-Egan C-E Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mitchell Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Mitchell Christian was beaten by James Valley Christian 81-34. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mitchell Christian in their matchups with James Valley Christian: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Mitchell Christian had strong showings from Aiden Lieber, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, and Luke Mentele, who scored nine points. That was a full 38.2% of Mitchell Christian's points, marking the 16th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Colman-Egan had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 71-49 margin over Iroquois/Lake Preston.
Mitchell Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Colman-Egan, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11.
Mitchell Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Colman-Egan in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, winning 69-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mitchell Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
