Westside is 7-2 against Pickens since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Westside Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Pickens Blue Flame at 6:00 p.m. Westside is coming into the match hot, having won their last 11 games.
Westside put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past Greenwood 60-36.
Pickens has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greenville. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Pickens came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Greenville is ranked 84th).
Westside pushed their record up to 20-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Pickens, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-4.
Westside beat Pickens 39-29 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westside since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
