The Santa Fe Indians were the 73-45 winner over the Splendora Wildcats when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Santa Fe fell just short of Splendora by a score of 54-52.
Despite the loss, Santa Fe still got an impressive performance from Kenny Torres, who scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds. The contest was Torres' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Jewell, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Justin Kelley was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with 6 rebounds for Splendora. That makes it four consecutive games in which Kelley has scored at least 25% of Splendora's points. Jaydn McNeely was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Santa Fe now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Splendora, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-5.
Santa Fe will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Big Sandy at 12:00 p.m. on December 8th. Big Sandy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Santa Fe in Texas (Big Sandy is ranked 280th, while Santa Fe is ranked 842nd). As for Splendora, they will square off against Shepherd at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Shepherd is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.1 points per game.
