Hanover has gone 9-1 against Mechanicsville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Hawks will head out to face off against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Mechanicsville will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Hanover extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday. The Hawks blew past Freeman 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won three games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Kaileigh Byars made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Byars was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Kaycee Doughty was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
Hanover hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mechanicsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They never let Varina get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Monday.
Ella Hagen and Hailey McLaughlin did most of the damage at the plate: Hagen got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run, while McLaughlin got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Riley Christian, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Hanover's record now sits at 5-3. As for Mechanicsville, their record is now 3-5.
Mechanicsville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hanover has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Mechanicsville, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Hanover's sizable advantage in that area, the Mustangs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Hanover was able to grind out a solid win over Mechanicsville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
