Softball Recap: Mundelein Has No Trouble Against Grant Community

Mundelein was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Grant Community on Friday. The Mustangs blew past the Bulldogs 11-5. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Sophia Zepeda tossed a big game, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Avi Perez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shea Eaman, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

The win snapped Mundelein's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-7 record. As for Grant Community, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-11-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mundelein will challenge Warren Township at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grant Community, they will take on Johnsburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
